Tom Petty has died after suffering a cardiac arrest. He was 66 years old. A statement from Tony Dimitriades said that Petty died at 8:40 p.m. PT on Monday October 2nd, “surrounded by family, his bandmates and friends.”
Tom Petty was hospitalized on Sunday night (October 1st) after he was discovered unconscious and in cardiac arrest.
Doctors and emergency medical personnel were able to restart his pulse and he was put on life support at UCLA Santa Monica Hospital.
Petty wrapped a 40th anniversary of the Heartbreakers tour this past weekend at the Hollywood Bowl (fan shot video footage below). The tour included an August 17th stop in Vancouver.
